DIY Agate Artwork

Day 34:

As I’ve probably mentioned before, I’m always on the lookout for some new decorations. Not to mention that if the decorations are DIY i’m all that more for it. I think making your own decorations make them all that more special, and it’s better because you get to to customize it to your liking. So, i decided to try agate artwork.

For this diy all you need is paper, watercolors, a brush, water, and salt.
You want to start off by painting an oval shape and fill in the oval with different shades of a color, or you can mix and match colors that complement each other. What I did was look up a picture of an agate slice and based my painting off of that.

Then, either in the center ‘layer’ of the agate slice or on one of the inner rings you’re going to want to make sure you just painted it so that it’s wet and sprinkle some salt on top.

While I waited for the salt to dry I went back and made some minor touch-ups like outlining the outside rim of each agate slice.

I made this in the morning so I then let my artwork dry for the rest of the day and at night I removed the salt by just dusting it off. For me, not all of the salt came off but I kind of liked how it looked with the salt because it glistened and I think added some detail.

Overall, I really liked this diy project and I am definitely going to incorporate it into my room decor.

See you tomorrow!
